The returns for Co Galway are missing.\u00a0I could find no entries for the west Cork families, although some folios are missing.<br><br>By the time of Griffith\u2019s\u00a0<em>&#8216;Primary Valuation&#8217;<\/em>\u00a0(1848-1860) most Dowling households were in counties: Kilkenny (228); \u00a0Laois (158); \u00a0and Kildare (99).<br>For Doolan, most occur in Laois (159) and Kildare (70)<br><br>In the Registrar\u2019s Report on Births in 1890, showed most Dowlings in Countys Kilkenny, Laois, and Dublin.<br>Most Doolan births were in Countys Louth, Dublin and\u00a0<strong>Cork<\/strong>.<br><br>Two Famous Dowlings:<br>Thady Dowling (1544-1628) Irish scholar and grammarian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bartholemew Dowling (1823-1863) a Kerryman, of the transplanted Leix sept, wrote \u2018The Brigade of Fontenoy\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0 (The Battle of Fontenoy was a very famous French battle against the English, where the Irish Brigade of France turned what seemed to be certain Defeat into a French VICTORY.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems there is not an active clan organisation for your name,\u00a0<strong>at this time<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the revival of interest in Irish culture and heritage over the past 100 years has led to the revival of many Irish Clans. In more recent times, increased access to historical archives online, DNA testing and ease of travel to Ireland has led many individuals to explore their own genealogy and connections to Irish Clans.
